AMSOIL Championship Off-Road 2022 Season Preview
Happy Memorial Day, race fans! If you’re gearing up for summer like me, a sure sign is the kick-off of the AMSOIL Championship Off-Road season. With 900-hp trucks flying around corners and SxSs barely keeping all four tires on the track, there’s no shortage of excitement of what is setting up to be 12 rounds of high-flying, bar-to-bar action.
Let’s take a look at what’s in store for the upcoming season.
Meet Team AMSOIL
Kyle Chaney is a multi-time GNCC champion, Pro Mod short-course champion, WEXCR champion, Championship Off-Road champion and most notably, a two-time King of the Hammers UTV champion. And, this season he has inked a deal with Team AMSOIL staple Scheuring Speed Sports.
Chaney plans to race in the Pro Turbo SxS class as well compete for a Pro 4×4 championship. He joins veteran teammate Elliot Burns in the SxS class.
Recently, the team headed down to ERX Motorpark for some preseason testing. Check out what Chaney had to say about the new partnership.
Pro 2wd Re-Enters “Golden Age”
This season the Pro 2wd class is looking to rival the “golden age” of the class when the likes of MacCachren, Cenni and the Flannerys dominated in the late 90s. And, with six different winners last year and ultimately one point separating first and second place in points, the era is setting up to be relived. Brooks, Greaves, Kincaid, Mittag, Kleiman, Leighton and Winner all will fight for the top spot on the podium this season.
Greaves Hopes To Repeat
In Pro 4×4, CJ Greaves looks to repeat after taking home the championship last season by more than 40 points. But, even with that point gap, each weekend saw Greaves do battle with Kyle LeDuc, the 2020 champion, which should continue to play out this season, with the elder Greaves throwing in some wrenches every now and again.
Even with those top three looking to settle the score this season, a slew of others looks to challenge, most notably newest Team AMSOIL member Kyle Chaney, who earned his first Pro 4×4 podium last season.
Going With The Flo
New this season, you can view all rounds of AMSOIL Championship Off-Road live on FloSports.
